Jazz lives, in a few places it even thrives, but for lots of people jazz is no more than a word, it never becomes a sound. JazzEra wants to change that. We want to make jazz available to anyone interested, but more than that, we want to give listeners a chance to respond, to get involved. We do this by marrying the music to the technology. Jazz never developed anything equivalent to the pop video scene. Quite why that was, no one knows. Maybe because as the interest in tech rose the interest in jazz declined. Anyway, whatever the reason it never happened. Now it can – and will.

JazzEra is a site where the music is provided and the user does the rest. Having listened to the track the user can respond with a video — one they create to go with their own interpretation of the track, or one just to see how it works. If they or a friend can write lyrics, they can create a sing-along video, and then, if they like what they’ve done, they can share.

JazzEra is not a commercial venture, it’s free and we’re keen to share. The tracks at present are all AI generated because the developer is definitely not musical. He’s a listener not a performer. JazzEra, now it’s live, is open to anyone — musicians, filmmakers, researchers, developers — we’d like anyone who enjoys jazz and who wants to take the idea further to be able to participate.
